The Writers Guild of America has declared its staunch opposition to the potential merger between Paramount Skydance and Warner Bros. Discovery, warning the deal WOULD harm writers, consumers, and competition. The guild's letter to Bloomberg emphasized that media consolidation has historically led to job losses, suppressed creative freedom, and misallocated capital that could have fueled organic growth.

Paramount Skydance, spearheaded by David Ellison, remains the frontrunner to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery despite three rejected bids. The proposed merger has already boosted WBD shares by 24% since talks surfaced. The WGA vows to mobilize regulators against the deal, continuing its legacy of challenging media megamergers.
